JULIAN WEST
Julian cut his creative teeth at the age of 18 as an apprentice editor at the BBC, and then moved into music videos and commercials as an editor. Once he started directing music videos, he was mentored at Limelight by Steve Barron, who brought him into the commercial directing world, and ultimately, to the US. He joined Assembly in 1999, and has been here ever since, creating intimate and gorgeous visual stories with a beating heart.
In his parallel life, he wrote and directed the 2001 indie feature Trigger Happy starring Sarita Choudhury and Rosario Dawson for the Independent Film Channel and over the last several years, has also made a number of award-winning shorts such as Small Jeans, which screened at the LA Short Film Festival, the Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montreal, and won Best Actress at Holly Shorts.
And as an indie producer he is also involved with a number of features such as "Oxalis" starring Derek Wilson, the feature length adaptation of Bonnie Jo Campbell's novel "Once Upon A River", and "Broken Solder" with Ray Liotta and Sophie Turner.
He is currently a co-producer with Rosario Dawson of Talia Lugacy's feature film “This Is Not A War Story” starring Sam Adegoke and Frances Fisher.
